Our First Christmas!! :)

Derek and I had our 1st Christmas today!! :) It was such a blast getting out of bed in our PJ's and opening the gifts that we had for one another. So...the pictures at the beginning are not so becoming because we literally did not get ready at all. We got out of bed and started taking pictures. Those are the best later down the road though!! They are a real laugh though! :-)

We also had some special decorations! :)

Jacob and Patrick came over to our apartment and set up this Reindeer on Christmas Eve. Derek's mom and Grandma mailed it to my parents house so that we could surprise Derek. This reindeer is very special to his family and is now very special to OUR family!! :)

Christmas with the Goetzes!! :)

Mom got an Elmo from Dad that says "I love you" and blows kisses. It is was really cute.

Christmas with the Goetze/ Broughton!! :)

Jacob and Tyler were very tired!! :)

Our gifts!!

This is a hat that B bought for Derek. My dad has one similar at the Farm and Derek really liked it last time we were there. I think he looks mighty handsome myself! :) I might be a little bias though!!

We could not have asked for a better 1st Christmas!!

We really missed the Groseclose/Keenes!! We love you all and miss you lots!!

Graduation, Pomp and Circumstnace, Freezing Cold...

Today marks my last day of college for the rest of my life!! It was a great feeling and a sad one!! :) I had an emotional couple of hours that started when the professors were walking by going into the chapel. We (all the graduates) clapped for them as they walked by. I thought about all the peope I met all the professors that help me through these years and now we are thanking them for this day where we walk across the stage and get out diploma. That is what started the teary eyes. I sat with classmates that I have known for years knowing that this was the last of our college career. What a day it was!! I love all my friends and I love the professor but I will NOT miss the stressful times of studying!! YEAH!! It is over!! :) Thank you for everyone who has helped me through! Derek got one thing that I did not at my graduation...He got to stand and be recognized as a spouse of a graduate. It was so COOL!! :) haha!! I love it!! All my family was so sweet and I have enough graduation money to get the camera that I want. I am super excited!

Here are a few pictures that Derek took while I was graduating!! :)

The First George Family Christmas Tree.

We officially have the first George family Christmas Tree!!!!! :D

So apparently this is how the George's pick out a Chrsitmas tree.

1. We go to Lowes b/c we are poor and we get a discount when we go there! :)
2. The first tree we look at was a 7-8 foot tree.
3. Amanda tells Derek, lets go look at the 6-7ft. trees because they are cheaper.
4. As we are looking at the 6-7 foot trees someone comes to the 1st tree we looked at the picks it up. Derek wispers to Amanda, "They have OUR tree!!!"
5.The people set the tree back down and...
6. Derek, says..."ok, I was jealous when the other people picked up the tree...I think that means that that one is the first George Family Christmas tree!" :)

So...that is the George way to pick out a Christmas tree!! haha!! :)

Here are some pictures. They are out of order because my computer is wierd but you will get the main idea!! :)

We went to Bojangles before we got our tree. We may make that a tradition!! :D YUM!! :D

What a fun day this was!!! :)

Working and everything else going on in our Lives! :)

So...yesterday afternoon Amber calls me and needs a ride to the airport. I change my plans and figure out how to get her to the airport. She is traveling to London and then on to Milan to visit with the missionary family she will be working with for 2 years!

Derek and I go and drop her off (we make her take out cash because neither of us EVER travel without a little cash...just in case). We gave her hugs and sent her off. She said her plane was to leave at 6:30pm.

I was sitting at my desk writing a paper and at 7:58pm I get a phone call and my phone says that Amber is calling. My heart immediately dropped and I got a knot in my stomach. I knew something was wrong.

I answered and Amber says, "Well, I am not on a plane. I was waiting for my flight to leave and had an hour and a half so I was talking to my Dad on my cell phone. I got up and grabbed my things and was pacing around. All of a sudden I looked down and my purse was gone. I was frantic and had the airport security looking everywhere. No one could find it. The security said that someone could turn it in tomorrow." Hearing a crack in her voice she says, "Amanda, I am home." Derek and I prayed for her right there on the phone and just prayed that whatever God wants to happen will happen.

I get a call this morning from her saying Her purse was FOUND! What are the chances. This was an amazing blessing from the Lord. One of the things we talked about last night was that if her purse was found she would go one with her trip one day later. She is leaving tonight!!

I asked her about anything being stolen and she said that the only thing stolen was the cash we made her take out! At least it was only $20.00.

Praise the Lord Amber is on her way to Milan! :)

As for the rest of us...

Derek is at work at Lowes and I am at work, filling in for a girl that is out. It happens to be the job I have my resume in for. We keep praying for that as well.

This has been the life of the George's lately! :)

Marriage

Can I just say... I Love Marriage!! Being married to Derek has been one of the greates things that has ever happened in my life (I think Derek feels the same way) :-)! It is great to be able to share everything with the person you love the most (under Jesus Christ). It awesome to go to bed at night, with my best friend and be able to sit together and read the Bible and pray. I look forward to going to bed because I get to talk to Derek until he falls asleep. We would do this when we were dating except that it was on the phone and I would get upset when he would fall asleep now I just roll over and go to sleep too! It is so wonderful! People would tell me that marriage is great but I have just realized how much I really do LOVE being married to Derek. He is a great and godly man and I am so glad that the Lord brought us together to become man and wife. Derek exceeds above and beyond what kind of man I could have ever dreamed of marrrying!! He is an amazing man and I am the blessed girl that gets to be married to him!! :-) Marriage is great...thats my point! :-)

Football Game...Wet, Cold, and Fun!!

Derek and I went to the South Florida - NCSU football game with my family. there were a few scattered showers predicted but we though that a little rain wouldnt hurt anybody! It was the 2nd quarter and it started to drizzle rain a little. We thought...no biggie we are serious football fans and we are going to stick it out. About 5 minutes later the whole sky let loose and it started POURING!! I was not feeling well so Derek decided that we should go back to the car. With little surprise to us my Father was still watching the game. He was smart and went under the shelter before it started pouring to hard. It was a lot of fun and REALLY wet! It was at half-time that we decided we were too wet to try and stay for the rest of the game. Unfortunately but no surprise to us NCSU lost 41-10. It was a sad, dreary, wet game. But it was also a fun experience. :-) Go Pack!! :-)
